Sustainable Resource Processing
Making a Difference
There is a need and an opportunity to demonstrate improved performance against sustainability criteria in the intensive resource processing centres of Australia
1. Concentration of industrial activities; high visibility, high impact
2. Shared local environment, geographic and geological features
3. Shared local community perceptions and regional stakeholders
4. Shared concerns with energy savings, fossil fuels and Greenhouse emissions, water quality and usage, waste disposal
5. Critical mass for industrial ecology initiatives; at least 3-5 processing industries with high volume and regular input and waste streams
6. Shared regional agri-industry activities to explore more synergies
7. Critical mass of technical expertise; potential to motivate people
